I was always fascinated by Jamie Oliver. Now I have a whole new respect for the man after watching him on TED. Here was this chef / TV celebrity / famous author who taught me so many things over the years about my kitchen, my diet, my family and most importantly, my community. I cook a lot; I'm Hungarian. Food has meaning to me.
If you haven't seen this episode of TED, Jamie challenges us to think about our surroundings, our society, and the need for education. At home and in our schools. Obesity can be eliminated if we show our children how to make an omlette vs. dialing Pizza Hut. Show them how to make a goulash or a tart summer salad. Explain food's origin; my parents did. And because of it I respect food the way I do.
Jamie even goes as far as creating a petition, but before you sign it, hear what he has to say. Then decide.
